Agent Catalog

You don’t start with an empty workspace. A new workspace starts with one agent: Mara, your personal assistant. You add more from the Team page whenever you want them, up to five agents on a team. Each has a name, a role, a personality, and an avatar, and arrives as a teammate you can chat with and assign work to right away.

Who you start with

💬 MaraPersonal AssistantWhatever you hand her: reminders, tasks, questions, drafts, and the details worth remembering.

Mara is a new workspace’s default agent: she answers your iMessage line and any message that doesn’t name a teammate.

If your workspace was set up before sign-up changed, you chose a team then and it is still your team. Your default agent is the one you had then, often Kenji, the Chief of Staff.

To add one, an owner or admin opens Team and chooses Add an agent. You’ll see each agent’s profile: what it owns, a short description, and examples of what you can ask. Each role can be on the team once. See Team Setup.

How they work together

Your default agent is the front door. Ask it for anything. When it is your only agent, it handles everything itself. When your team has other agents, it answers what it can and creates or assigns a task to the teammate who owns the rest, then tells you who has it. You can also go straight to any agent in Chat or by @mentioning them on a task.

Each agent has its own personality and focus, which shapes how it writes and what it takes on. The tools each agent can use also follow its role. For example, agents that need to look things up on the web can browse; the Marketing Lead and Writer can draft social posts when Buffer is connected.

Changing your team

An owner or admin adds an agent from the Team page, and renames or retires one from the agent’s own page. A retired agent can always be restored. See Team Setup, or the Agents API.
